Two Additional Patent Attorneys Join Womble Carlyle's Raleigh Office

Gorczynski, Mayhew Follow Three Patent Attorneys To Womble Carlyle

RALEIGH, N.C.—The Womble Carlyle Patent Team continues to grow, with the recent addition of two patent attorneys to the firm’s Raleigh office, bringing the total number of patent attorneys joining the firm in the last month to five. Attorneys Scott Mayhew and Jessica Gorczynski join three patent attorneys who moved their practice to Womble Carlyle earlier this month from the Raleigh office of Alston+Bird, LLP.
  • Dr. Jessica Gorczynski focuses her practice on patent prosecution related to chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. She earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Virginia. Her research there encompassed the synthesis and characterization of metal-centered polymers, and her work has been published in numerous academic journals.
  • Scott Mayhew concentrates his practice on patent preparation and prosecution and patent infringement and validity studies. His clients include companies in the medical device, home appliance, infant products, light emitting diode and semiconductor industries. Scott is a former researcher in the Analytical Instrumentation Facility on North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus.
Christopher Humphrey, Kevin Lyn and Ryan Cagle joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group in its Raleigh office. They previously practiced with Gorczynski and Mayhew at Alston+Bird.
 
These new attorneys follow the firm’s December announcement that seven additional patent attorneys, practicing in the software and life science areas, joined the firm in its Northern Virginia office. These hires increase the overall Intellectual Property Practice Group to nearly 70 attorneys and agents firm wide, with more than 40 patent attorneys.
