Bulldogs are a universally recognizes symbol of tenacity and toughness. So when Renee Bailey of Greenville decided to participate in a grueling three-day, 60-mile walk to fight breast cancer, it made sense that she would want to take along a little bulldog spirit with her.

Bailey has enlisted the aid of Winston the Bulldog, Womble Carlyle's widely recognized symbol and mascot, as she prepares for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, to be held Nov. 6-8 in Dallas. Money raised by the walk will support Susan G. Komen For The Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust, which provide funding for breast cancer research, treatment, detection and education.

Bailey is the office administrator for a long-time client of Womble Carlyle attorney Sandy Miller, the former President of the Komen Foundation's Upstate South Carolina chapter. Sandy donated to Bailey's fund raising campaign and through that connection to Womble Carlyle, Bailey decided to adopt Winston as a training partner. She has dressed a stuffed Winston in a pink headband and carries him with her as she trains. She plans to take him along for the 60-mile trek in November, too.

"Today was Winston's first day of training," Bailey reported on her official Breast Cancer 3-Day blog "He was happy on the pink back pack sporting his new Race for the Cure headband."

Sandy also sent her some other Womble Carlyle items, including a water bottle and T-shirt.

So far, Bailey has raised $1,880 and has set a fund raising goal of $2,300. You can donate to her effort by clicking here.
