Guanming Fang of Womble Carlyle’s Atlanta office was recently part of a select 27-member delegation led by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin which visited China from September 6 to September 12. The delegation visited Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and Hong Kong and met with government officials and international and local business leaders in these cities. In addition to these meetings, Guanming also met with officials of Ningbo Lehui Food Machinery Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of food and beverage processing machinery in China, which recently established a joint venture with a New Jersey company in Newnan, Georgia; and officials of Sany Heavy Industry Ltd., the largest manufacturer of construction machinery in China, which is also considering setting up a facility in the United States.
Guanming was the only China-born member of the delegation and one of only three Chinese-speaking members. "The trip was very successful," Guanming said. "After more than 25 years of rapid economic growth, many companies in China are ready, capable and willing to expand their business globally. The delegation shared with the business and government leaders in China what Metro Atlanta has to offer to Chinese businesses that are interested in expanding to this part of the world."
