March 7, 2011
BALTIMORE-Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC announced that attorney Sky Woodward has been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record, Maryland’s leading business publication. Woodward, a civil litigation attorney in the firm’s Baltimore office, was honored for her professional accomplishments and mentoring, as well as her service to legal, business, and civic organizations. The Daily Record will honor Woodward and 99 other winners Monday, May 9, 2011 at The Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Woodward’s innovative approach to client service, specifically the use of extranet technology to help a major multifamily real estate client manage its environmental risk throughout the United States, was a factor the judges took into consideration. Likewise, the judges were impressed by Woodward’s service to the legal community, her work as a mentor to other women lawyers, and as a leader in DRI - The Voice of the Defense Bar, the national organization of trial and appellate lawyers representing the interests of business in civil litigation.
Among her many professional honors, Woodward is ranked as a Maryland Super Lawyer for Product Liability Defense Litigation and one of Maryland’s Top 25 Women Lawyers, was named 2011 Legal Elite by Smart CEO magazine, and was honored by The Daily Record in 2008 with its “Leadership in Law” award . She also is ranked as one of the Best Lawyers in America for Product Liability and Mass Tort litigation. Woodward serves on the firm’s Diversity Committee, and is a member of the 2011 Leadership Womble class.
In her personal statement to The Daily Record, Woodward said, “All of my professional accomplishments would mean little to me if I failed to live a healthy, happy, well-rounded, and grounded life, and, by example, instill in my son, Finn, and 11-year-old niece, Maya, the importance of being present for family and friends as well as for clients and community. My son, while very much a work in progress, is without doubt my most significant personal accomplishment.”
The Daily Record’s Top 100 Women program recognizes outstanding achievement by women as demonstrated through professional accomplishment, community leadership and mentoring. For the complete list of the 2011 winners, visit here.
