BUENOS AIRES—Womble Carlyle has established itself as a go-to law firm for clients dealing with the current financial crisis. Recently, the firm took that knowledge to the international market.

Womble Carlyle attorneys Don Lampe and Mike Ray spoke on "The Global Financial Crisis: Government Intervention and What It Means for Lawyers and Their Clients" at Lex Mundi's 2008 Annual and Latin American/Caribbean Regional Conference. The conference was held Oct. 16-19 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and drew attorneys from all across the globe.

The panel discussed the forces behind the financial crisis, the efforts of governments to address the situation and what clients will be expecting from law firms in the months to come. Lampe and Ray were joined on the panel by attorneys from Connecticut, Germany and Switzerland.

"This conference reinforced the point that the economic crisis truly is a global problem,” Lampe said. "Markets all across the world are being impacted and governments throughout the world are looking for solutions."

Mike Ray has 30 years' experience as a business litigator and is particularly versed in handling international business and intellectual property litigation. Mike also is a former Chairman of Lex Mundi.

Lex Mundi is the world’s leading association of independent law firms, with 20,000 attorneys representing 160 law firms in more than 100 countries. Womble Carlyle is the North Carolina member of Lex Mundi.

"Lex Mundi has been proactively working to help lawyers and clients find solutions to the global economic crisis,” Ray said. “Womble Carlyle is proud to be a part of those efforts."

Lampe and Ray’s participation in the Global Financial Crisis forum is just part of Womble Carlyle’s extensive efforts to help clients through this difficult economic time. Toward that goal, the firm has formed a multidisciplinary Economic Stability and Solutions team.
