Womble Carlyle Has Strong Presence at Nanotech Conference

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Womble Carlyle was well-represented at the 2011 Commercialization of Micro-Nano Systems (COMS) Conference, held Aug. 28-31st in Greensboro. The conference brings together cutting-edge researchers with visionary entrepreneurs to discuss all facets of the nanotechnology industry.
 
Womble Carlyle attorney and former four-term North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt was the keynote speaker for the conference. Gov. Hunt was joined by U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) Gov. Hunt was introduced by Jack Hicks, a Womble Carlyle attorney and one of North Carolina’s leading nanotech lawyers.
 
Governor Hunt established the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina, and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, helping make North Carolina one of the nation’s leading centers for nanotechnology research and development.
 
Womble Carlyle has an active Nanotechnology Practice, helping businesses with intellectual property issues, business development and reducing litigation exposure.
 
Conference participants came from Asia, Europe and South America, as well as all across the United States. Womble Carlyle participants included Gov.
