Womble Carlyle Holds Diversity Business Meeting as a Part of the MCCA Diversity Leadership Summit

MIAMI—On April 21-24, a diverse group of Womble Carlyle attorneys and professional staff attended the Firm’s Diversity Business Meeting which was held as a part of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s (MCCA) General Counsel Invitational (GCI) Diversity Leadership Summit in Miami, Fla. Womble Carlyle is a Strategic Partner with the MCCA and was the title sponsor of the three-day Diversity Leadership Summit.
 
The Business Meeting commenced Wednesday, April 21st with a meeting among the Womble Carlyle contingent and MCCA leadership to discuss the Firm’s diversity initiatives, retention and client development strategies. It was an important opportunity for many of the Firm’s diverse attorneys to discuss client development strategies related to corporate initiatives to promote inclusion through selection of diverse outside counsel.

The MCCA’s Diversity Leadership Summit included unique continuing education offerings focused on diversity, leadership and development, as well as numerous opportunities to network with in-house counsel from around the country in an atmosphere that fostered business development and relationship expansion. Brent Clinkscale, an attorney in the Firm’s Greenville office and Chair of Womble Carlyle’s Diversity Committee, served on a panel discussion entitled, “The Role of Lawyers in Reputation & Crisis Management: From Athletes to Zoning.”

The GCI Summit culminated with a golf tournament where several Womble attorneys had the opportunity to team with in-house counsel. The firm also hosted several activities for increased visibility on the course and throughout the Leadership Summit, including a hospitality table with ice cream, fruit and golf tees for tournament goers, and a lunch directly following the tournament. Womble Carlyle also greeted attendees at a dedicated registration spot upon guest check-in and hosted a kick-off dinner for Leadership Summit attendees Wednesday evening.
