Womble Carlyle South Carolina Political Law Team Successfully Defends Gov. Nikki Haley in Ethics Investigation
COLUMBIA, S.C.—Womble Carlyle attorneys Butch Bowers, Kevin Hall and Todd Carroll have helped clear South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in a state ethics probe.
On June 29th, the State House Ethics Committee announced it was dismissing allegations against the Governor related to her activities while employed as a fundraiser for the Lexington Medical Center Foundation and a consultant for the engineering firm of Wilbur Smith Associates. The Committee ruled that Gov. Haley did not use her political office as a State Legislator for personal gain. Womble Carlyle’s South Carolina Political Law Team of Bowers, Hall and Carroll represented the Governor in the proceedings.
The ethics complaint was filed by political activist John Rainey, who has been a long-time critic of the Governor.
Bowers, Hall and Carroll have represented several other South Carolina elected officials in ethics investigations, including former Governor Mark Sanford, who they successfully defended in impeachment proceedings.
