Womble Carlyle Sponsors Human Rights Campaign National Dinner
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Womble Carlyle was a Gold Sponsor of the 16th Annual Human Rights Campaign National Dinner, held October 6th in Washington, D.C. Womble Carlyle attorneys Debbie Israel, Louis Rouleau, Brent Clinkscale, Daniel Attaway and Lela Ames attended the National Dinner on behalf of the firm.
Womble Carlyle was among several Fortune 500 companies in the list of sponsors of the event, which included Bank of America, BP, Wells Fargo, Constellation Energy, Marriott, Sodexo, UPS, American Airlines, and Microsoft, among others.
The event attracted more than 3,000 guests to the Washington Convention Center where Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker was a featured speaker and Academy Award-winning actress Sally Field received the Ally for Equity Award. Other guests included Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and screenwriter Dustin Lace Black, who won an Oscar for writing Milk.
The NAACP and its president, Ben Jealous, were honored with the National Equality Award for their steadfast support for LGBT equality, including their public support for same-sex marriage earlier this year.
The Human Right Campaign works for equal rights on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. The annual National Dinner seeks both to honor those who have contributed to the cause of equality and also to highlight the importance of what has yet to be achieved.
