Womble Carlyle's Hamilton, Sweeney Named Maryland Super Lawyers
February 10, 2009
BALTIMORE—Womble Carlyle attorneys David B. Hamilton and John Parker Sweeney have been named 2009 Maryland Super Lawyers.
Hamilton made the Super Lawyers list in the category of Civil Defense Litigation, while Sweeney was ranked in the practice of Class Action/Mass Torts. Both practice in Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore Office. Hamilton and Sweeney also made the 2008 Maryland Super Lawyers rankings.
“Just 18 months ago, Womble Carlyle didn’t even have an office in Baltimore. Now, we have attorneys being recognized as among the best in the state,” said Hamilton, who is the Managing Member of the Baltimore Office.
Maryland Super Lawyers is a listing of the top five percent of lawyers in the state who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The multi-step process involved soliciting nominations from attorneys across the state (lawyers were not allowed to vote for themselves), followed by a thorough case-by-case review of each nominee.
This is just the latest in a series of recent honors for attorneys in Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore office. In November, T. Sky Woodward was named the 2008 winner of the Leadership in the Law Award for professional excellence, mentoring service and dedication to community service. Sweeney and Woodward also were recognized as Baltimore Best Lawyers in late 2008.
