Womble Carlyle’s Keith Munson Presents Order of the Palmetto to Prominent Greenville Business Leader

GREENVILLE, S.C.—South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford tapped long-time friend and Womble Carlyle attorney Keith Munson to honor a Greenville business leader for a lifetime of service.
Munson presented the Order of the Palmetto to Frank Halter, Chairman of Coldwell Banker Caine at a recent ceremony in Greenville.
Munson met Governor Sanford at the University of Virginia in the mid-1980s. During the Governor’s two campaigns, Munson served as the Upstate campaign coordinator and transition team member. He was appointed by Governor Sanford to the board of directors of Santee Cooper Power Company and the Research University Centers of Economic Excellence.
The Order of the Palmetto is the highest level of civilian honor bestowed by the S.C. Governor's Office and recognizes and individual's lifetime achievement and service to the state. Past winners include such notables as author Pat Conroy, Sen. Strom Thurmond, civil rights activist Septima Clark and many generals, admirals, captains of industry, university presidents and ambassadors.
Halter joined Coldwell Banker Caine in 1953 and became President of the company in 1968. Halter has been a tireless volunteer in the community, serving in leadership roles in the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, the United Way, the Greenville Hospital System, Furman University, Peace Center for the Performing Arts and many other organizations.
Keith Munson is a trial lawyer with more than 20 years experience representing major corporations and governmental entities in complex litigation in the areas of product liability defense, mass tort defense, class action litigation, director and officer liability, and civil/securities fraud. Munson is a former federal prosecutor and a U.S. Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He practices in Womble Carlyle’s Greenville office.
