Evander Holyfield knows plenty about high-stakes fights. Now, he's teaming with Womble Carlyle to help knock out a scarier opponent than his boxing foes-cancer. And you can help, too.

The former four-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Olympic Medalist will participate in Womble Carlyle's 3rd annual Striking Back at Cancer Bowl-A-Thon to benefit the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

The public is invited to participate as well. Individual bowlers can play for $250, or a team of four can sign up for $1,000. Even if you don't wish to bowl, you can still come and watch for a suggested $10 donation. All contributions are tax-deductible. (Click here to sign up.)

The event takes place Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at the 300 Atlanta Bowling Center, 2175 Savoy Drive in Atlanta. Registration, food and drinks starts at 6:30 p.m. and the bowling takes place from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Bernard Coleman, a member of Womble Carlyle's Corporate and Securities team and leader of the firm's Sports and Entertainment Practice in Atlanta, represents Evander and brought the event to the legendary boxer's attention.

"We couldn't be more excited to have the 'Real Deal' on board," said attorney Kent Webb, who spearheads Womble Carlyle's Striking Back at Cancer Bowl-A-Thon effort. "Evander is known for his charitable work, particularly here in Atlanta, and we are honored that he agreed to help us in this outstanding cause."

In addition to Evander, other celebrities including former NBA star Dale Davis and Wes Durham, Voice of the Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, are expected to participate.
