CHARLESTON, S.C.—The American Bar Association has honored a professional committee chaired by Womble Carlyle attorney Jim Myrick.

The Business Litigation Committee of the ABA’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section won the 2011 Leadership Involvement Award. This award is presented to a Committee that has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Award winners are recognized for providing advice, guidance and professional development opportunities. Another factor is the involvement of the Committee’s members in leadership roles in other Section Standing Committees, Task Forces and/or Council.

Myrick chaired the Business Litigation Committee in 2010-11. The Business Litigation Committee is one of 32 committees within the section and includes nearly 1,400 total members.

Jim Myrick has more than 20 years of experience as a business litigator. Myrick has mediated, arbitrated and tried cases in the areas of personal injury (defense and plaintiff), commercial disputes, products liability and environmental permits. Listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Myrick represents major national and regional companies as well as individuals and minority business interests. He practices in Womble Carlyle’s Charleston, S.C., office.
