RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK (April 12, 2010) –Kurt D. Weaver, a product liability litigation attorney in Womble Carlyle’s Raleigh office, has been elected Chair of the United Way of the Greater Triangle’s Board of Directors. Involved with United Way of the Greater Triangle (UWGT) since 2001, Weaver most recently served as 1st Vice-Chair on the board.
A trial lawyer with nearly 20 years experience, Weaver previously served as the Governance Committee Chair for United Way of the Greater Triangle. During his board tenure he has led Johnston County United Way’s merger with UWGT, the organization’s name change and the creation and adoption of new constitutional by-laws. “Kurt’s progressive and strong leadership style will guide United Way of the Greater Triangle’s board of directors forward in accomplishing our vision of all who need help, find it,” said Craig Chancellor, CEO and president of United Way of the Greater Triangle.
Weaver’s earliest experience with United Way was as a ‘loaned executive’ for the United Way of Greater Cleveland upon his graduation from the University of Notre Dame’s law school. Attuned to the pulse of the Triangle, Weaver notes, “In this challenging economic climate, United Way’sservices are needed even more than ever. Our volunteers are out there every day to answer that challenge, and I am happy to be a part of that effort. Our vision is for United Way of the Greater Triangle to be a truly regional team that serves our entire diverse region.”
