Womble Carlyle Ranked Top Public Bond Law Firm in N.C. For Second Year in a Row

RALEIGH, N.C.—Womble Carlyle is the number one ranked bond counsel in North Carolina for 2009 according to The Bond Buyer, having served as bond counsel for more than $2.8 billion in approved public bonds transactions. The firm outranked its next closest competitor by more than $200 million in bonds approved, and this was the second consecutive year Womble Carlyle topped the state’s rankings.

Bond counsel are engaged by the issuers of municipal bonds to properly structure bond issues to comply with various state, tax and securities laws and to render an approving legal opinion with respect to the bonds, which is relied upon by the purchasers of such bonds. Womble Carlyle serves as bond counsel on numerous types of municipal bond financings throughout the State of North Carolina, representing various state agencies, cities, counties and special purpose authorities in financing various capital projects such as public utilities, public buildings and infrastructure, health care facilities, public and private schools and housing projects.
