Labor & Employment
The firm's Labor and Employment group has an established record representing employers in the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States and throughout the country.
The Labor and Employment group's practice consists of two principal elements: First, we represent employers in employment litigation before federal and state courts, agencies, and arbitration panels. This includes representing employers in wage and hour class actions and other multi-plaintiff litigation, non-competition and restrictive covenant enforcement, and employee raiding and defection, trade secret, employment tort, employee discharge, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, and other discrimination, OSHA, ERISA, labor, and other employment matters.
Second, we counsel employers on employment issues so they can proactively avoid litigation and minimize liability exposure. In this capacity, we regularly advise employers on layoffs and related WARN Act considerations, union organizing campaigns and collective bargaining negotiations, wage and hour inspections, and OSHA compliance reviews. We also help employers with employee handbooks, drug testing programs, affirmative action plans, and employment policies.
At the request of employers, we provide in-house seminars to supervisors and managers on how to effectively apply employment policies and deal with personnel issues. We also keep employers informed through timely client alerts on important developments in labor and employment law that affect their businesses.
