Garrett advises on economic development projects throughout the US. He collaborates closely with former four-term North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt and the firm's Economic Development Team, assisting clients on economic development projects and government relations strategy, site selection and incentives negotiation. Garrett first joined the firm’s real estate practice. He specialized in commercial transactions. Garrett then left the firm to join a major, international commercial real estate firm. While there, he specialized in site selection, facility construction and move management while handling significant facilities relocations for companies such as CSC, Lockheed Martin and Whirlpool. Laura DeVivo has more than 12 years of experience working closely in North Carolina’s Legislative and Executive branches. Now, she brings her public policy experience, political knowledge and top-level contacts to private practice at Womble Carlyle. Most recently, she spent four years as Senior Policy Advisor to N.C Speaker of the House Joe Hackney, whom she advised on issues related to the budget, public policy, legislation and political strategy. Previously, she served as an aide to the House Democratic Leader and Director of Legislative Affairs for the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
