Our Environmental and Risk Management attorneys advise developers, builders, and owners and operators of real estate assets on issues of environmental liability arising at various stages of the acquisition, development, ownership, management and sale of real estate projects.

Working in conjunction with the firm’s Environmental Emergency Response Group, the team provides advice when hazardous substances are discovered in due diligence investigations or on property already owned or operated by a client.

With assistance from the Environmental Emergency Response Group, services offered by our environmental attorneys to our real estate clients include:

• Negotiation of the terms and scope of contracts with environmental consultants
• Review of preliminary and final versions of environmental audit reports and results
• Negotiation of environmental-related portions of purchase and sale contracts, leases, loan documents, and other real estate-related documents 
• Negotiation with federal, state, and local environmental officials
