Our attorneys work with Womble Carlyle’s Employee Benefits Practice Group to address fiduciary, ERISA, unrelated business income, and other related issues involving the investment in real estate by non-profit entities. Our Employee Benefits attorneys have particular experience with the issues relating to real estate investments by employee benefits plans. Womble Carlyle serves as the primary outside legal counsel to a major national bank which acts as trustee of numerous pension plans. In this capacity, we have helped structure collective investment funds for pension plans to invest in real estate, as well as real estate investments by plans through limited partnerships and limited liability companies. Our Employee Benefits attorneys are experts in fiduciary and tax issues affecting such investments.
