On Sept. 14, attorney Joe Foltz discussed Womble Carlyle's role in closing Richard Kessler's Plant Riverside Project at the Annual Meeting of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Plant Riverside Project will be anchored by a boutique hotel housed in a vintage 1910 brick decommissioned Savannah (Ga.) Electric Power Plant. The space will include more than 400 luxury hotel rooms, as well as meeting space and a 4,000‑seat live entertainment venue. The Plant Riverside development also will include numerous restaurants, a rooftop bar, a parking garage and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park.
The $275 million development is expected to bring 700 permanent, full-time jobs (with benefits and a living wage) to Savannah.
Foltz is leading the Womble Carlyle team representing developer Richard Kessler in the Plant Riverside Project. Other team members include attorneys Peter Duffley, Laura Hester, Keith Taylor, Carolyn Wilson, Mark Burr, Phil Runkel, Anna Short-Slightom, Ashley Bynoe and Jessica Johns, and paralegals Linda Martin, Amber Cappel and Mary Barnett.
