Summer Associates at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP enjoy a diverse mix of meaningful work selected from a pool of projects, and social activities that will introduce students to our lawyers, our staff and the cities in which we live and work. In addition to considering academic achievement, the firm looks for students with the ability, motivation, and personal qualities to provide consistently high quality legal services to our clients and to contribute in a positive way to the culture of the firm.
A principal purpose of our Summer Associate Program is to involve students in various aspects of the firm’s legal practice, particularly substantive matters having important consequences to our clients. Summer Associates do the same type of work that Associates do. Summer Associate projects have deadlines and an assigning attorney to whom the Summer Associates will report. Feedback is given on work assignments and opportunities abound for Summer Associates to attend trials, motions, mediations, and depositions, as well as closings, will executions and a variety of client conferences. Beyond written work projects, we advise our Summer Associates to “tag-along” for hands-on learning opportunities and encourage them to attend client visits, practice group meetings, professional development events, and training sessions.
We want our future attorneys to be well-versed in technology and social media, and encourage applicants to use social media to promote themselves, as well as learn more about the firm and its summer program.
Specific details of the summer program are as follows:
